Ugly Ego/Secret Omen

Released around the same time as the similarly packaged Cameosis/Feel Me, this release from the U.K.'s Robinsongs label combines Cameo's Ugly Ego and Secret Omen, the band's third and fourth albums for Casablanca subsidiary Chocolate City. Highlighted by the Top 20 R&B single "Insane" and the superior title cut, Ugly Ego (1978) was a modest success, but Secret Omen (1979) fared better with the Top Five R&B hit "I Just Want to Be," a fine re-recording of "Find My Way" (the original version is on the Thank God It's Friday soundtrack), and the classic ballad "Sparkle." ~ Andy Kellman
