Trois Couleurs: Rouge [Original Film Soundtrack] [LP&CD]

Trois Couleurs: Rouge [Original Film Soundtrack] [LP&CD]

Personnel includes: Jean-Luis Murat (vocals), Sinfonia Varsovia.
Original score composed by Zbigniew Preisner except "Do Not Take Another Man's Wife I" (Van Den Budenmayer).
The final film of writer/director Krzysztof Kieslowski's Trois Couleurs trilogy, all scored by longtime collaborator Zbigniew Preisner, Rouge (with theme fraternité, or brotherhood) explores the connection between a young female model and a retired male judge, as well as ties to other films in the series. The score features symphonic music by the fictional composer from the first installment, Trois Couleurs: Bleu, and alternately tender, anxious, and triumphant string-based tracks to support the narrative, as well as Polish-language and French-language songs to open and close the film. Performed by the Sinfonia Varsovia, the score won Preisner his first César in 1995. ~ Marcy Donelson
