Microcastle/Weird Era Continued

Atlanta, Georgia art rockers Deerhunter followed their critically acclaimed sophomore album Cryptograms with 2008's even more straightforward effort Microcastle, a collection that stripped some of the experimentalism from their shoegaze re-imagining sound. Led by hyper-prolific principal songwriter Bradford Cox, the band worked quickly in the studio to semi-spontaneously construct companion album Weird Era Continued, a more open-ended collection of post-punk ragers, collage-styled songs, and blissful ambience to contrast the focused, no-nonsense productions on Microcastle. ~ Fred Thomas
