Drift Away/Loving Arms/Hey Dixie

Drift Away/Loving Arms/Hey Dixie

Liner Note Author: John Tobler.
Recording information: Quadrafonic Sound Studios, Nashville, TN; Sound Labs Inc, Hollywood, CA.
Illustrator: Richard Germinaro.
Photographers: Tom Wilkes ; Gene Brownell; Marshall Fallwell.
This two-disc set combines the three LPs that Dobie Gray recorded for MCA Records in the early '70s, 1973's Drift Away and Loving Arms (both of these albums are named after Gray's most enduring hits) and 1974's Hey Dixie, and they fit together well. Naturally, "Drift Away" and "Loving Arms" are both here, and for most casual fans, those are the two tracks one has to have. Following this trio of albums, Gray moved on to sign with Capricorn Records in 1975, and his commercial career, well, drifted away. ~ Steve Leggett
