Descendants [Original TV Movie Soundtrack]

A Disney Channel fantasy-musical about the offspring of well-known heroes and villains from the Disney empire, 2015's Descendants was directed by musical-film veteran Kenny Ortega (Xanadu, Dirty Dancing, High School Musical), whose involvement led to the film being turned into a musical. The chart-topping soundtrack featured seven songs from the film performed by cast members, four bonus songs, the end-credits tune "Believe" by Canadian dance-pop singer Shawn Mendes, and the "Descendants Score Suite" by the score composer, David Lawrence. Among the musical numbers are an a cappella hip-hop version of "Be Our Guest," originally from Beauty and the Beast; the energetic "Did I Mention," written by Grammy-winner Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne; and the menacing "Evil Like Me," performed by Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth (as Maleficent) and film lead Dove Cameron. ~ Marcy Donelson
