Catastrophe Ballet [Bonus Track]
Christian Death includes: Rozz Williams, Gitane Demone (vocals); Valor.
Lyricist: Rozz Williams.
Personnel: Gitane Demone (vocals, keyboards); Rozz Williams (vocals); David Glass (drums).
Liner Note Author: Jean Lorrain.
Christian Death's second studio album, 1984's CATASTROPHE BALLET, finds frontman Rozz Williams leading an entirely different backing ensemble, one that notably included guitarist Valor Kand. Stepping away from the punk-leaning sound of the Los Angeles goth-rock group's earlier incarnation, this outing features the act opting for a slower, doom-laden aesthetic that allows Williams to delve deeper into the more subdued, despairing side of his dark-prince persona, as heard on "The Drowning" and "Cervix Couch." Easily one of the band's finest and gloriously gloomy records, CATASTROPHE is also noteworthy for sowing the seeds of the band's dissolution, with Kand later acrimoniously gaining control of the Christian Death name.
