Attacca [Op. 2 Version]
Released shortly after May 2021's Your Choice, Attacca is the ninth mini-album from South Korean boy band Seventeen. Continuing in the vein of the rest of their 2021 output, the group utilized their "sub-unit" structure for different musical approaches: the Vocal Team offer bright harmonies on "Imperfect Love," the Hip-Hop Team take an introspective angle for "I Can't Run Away," and the Performance Team bring an understated, off-kilter energy on "Pang!" The project finds equal highs in its group tracks, too -- alongside the multi-million-streaming hit single "Rock with You," the project includes the seductive, synth-heavy "Crush" and the soaring "To You." While the majority of the albums' writing is, as usual, at the hands of Woozi and Bumbzu, Vernon takes a more prominent role here, writing for four of the album's seven tracks. ~ David Crone
